Sybil is very actively involved in the twinning links between Darlington and Mülheim, having acted as interpreter for the Darlington participants who travelled to Mülheim last year for the "Darlington Week" event.
The project was part of the ongoing 2003 celebrations of 50 years of town twinning between the two communities and Sybil enjoyed it so much, she requested help to organise this current work experience placement.
During her stay in Darlington Sybil has been home hosted with Councillor Tom Nutt, Chair of Darlington & District Town Twinning Association.
Although it has primarily been a work placement, Sybil has also found time to tour and explore Darlington and the surrounding areas. In two weeks, Sybil will be taking part in the International Youth Forum which Mülheim are hosting for 5 of their 6 twin towns: Darlington, UK; Tours, France: Kfar Saba, Israel; Oppole, Poland and Kusankoski, Finland.
Six students from Carmel Technology College's 6th Form will be Darlington's ambassadors, together with Councillor Tom Nutt, who is co-ordinating the project.
Councillor Tom Nutt said: "It has been an absolute pleasure hosting Sybil. During her stay, Sybil gained firsthand experience of what a great place Darlington is as a Gateway to visiting the North of England by going on day trips to Whitby, Durham, The Lake District, Bowes Museum and Barnard Castle."
