On 16th September 14 students along with their teachers arrived in Darlington to visit their twin school Hummersknott Academy. This was the second year of this new exchange and after arriving at Newcastle Airport everyone was excited to meet their host families in Darlington, and get to know about English Language and Culture.
The next few days were spent in school and we all loved to experience the different lessons, especially the cooking lesson with real English food that was prepared for us. We all loved the scones and cream, but not all of us dared to try the black pudding! Another highlight was meeting the Mayor and Mayoress, and the Deputy Mayor, in the Town Hall - we had prepared questions and during the discussions found out much about our twin town and the North East of England.
After the school days we visited Durham and York and the area around Darlington. We discovered much about the history of the area, met some Vikings in York, and visited the university castle in Durham. Everyone had a fantastic time and we are all really looking forward to welcoming our exchange students in Mülheim next summer, and to coming back next September.
