Friday 26th Sep 2025

Former Bürgermeisterin Dagmar Mühlenfeld, Bürgermeisterin Ann-Kahrin Allekotte and DR. Claudia Roos from the Town Hall arrived on 26th September for the 200th Anniversary of the Stockton and Darlington Railway celebrations. They met our Mayor and Mayoress, Sonia Kane and Janet Bowles, that afternoon in the Mayor's Parlour, and in the Council Chamber and were given a history of the town. Evening meal and tour of the Dolphin Centre followed. Saturday the 27th was anniversary day and most of the day was spent at the Hopetown Museum, with a guided tour, and then at noon joining the thousands of spectators at Skerne Bridge to watch the Arrival of Locomotion No.1 crossing the bridge. With members of our Association they enjoyed their evening meal At Tre Amice. On Sunday we had a full day visit to Preston Park Museum in Stockton, a wonderful venue well worth visiting. Thanks to Stockton Council for arranging this visit combined with a full tour of the Museum. Again members of our Association joined our guests for an evening meal at Cafe Spice. They left for Newcastle Airport on Monday morning having thoroughly enjoyed taking part in the wonderful anniversay weekend.
