Darlo Bands Rock the Ruhr

The rock bands, My Otherside and 2 Many Units played alongside a choir from Tours in France and bands from Mülheim and Kuusansankoski in Finland at the Voll die Ruhr festival and at the Ringlockschuppen Cultural Centre in the City''s Darlington Park.

The visit was organised through the Darlington and District Town Twinning Association and the equivalent body in Mülheim.
The bands were formally greeted by the Deputy Mayor of Mülheim, entertained at a civic reception and taken to see the historic coal-mining and industrial complex at Zollverein in nearby Essen.

Martin Wood, who accompanied the bands on behalf of the Town Twinning Association, said "We were all overwhelmed by the generosity and friendship of our hosts. It was a fantastic festival and the Darlington bands enjoyed the opportunity to play alongside talented musicians from Mülheim and their other twin towns. They have stuck up close friendships and would like to invite the Mülheim bands to perform at a similar festival in Darlington."
