Deputy Mayor of Amiens Marie Helene Lucsak, Chef Bruno Leroux, and International Officer Stephanie Dapsance-Dixon, visited Darlington from 9th to 11th May, following efforts during the past year to twin Catering Departments of Amiens and Darlington Colleges. During their stay they visited the Town Hall where they were told about the history of our Town, the Railway Museum, and had a comprehensive tour of the College which included an interview with the College radio station.
The visit was extremelly successful, and we anticipate continued co-operation between the Colleges, especially next year during the 60th anniversary celebrations of our Town Twinning links. The delegation took back with them a poppy wreath from The Middleton St George RCAF/RAF Memorial Association, to lay on the grave of Andrew Mynarski VC, a Canadian pilot based here during the Second World War, who died trying to save a colleague from a blazing Lancaster bomber near Amiens.
