60th Anniversary - Petrikirche Choir Visit Darlington

Thursday 3rd Oct 2013

Three years ago St. Cuthbert’s Church choir visited Mulheim and this was now a return visit from their choir.

They arrived on 3rd October and after collection from Newcastle airport enjoyed a welcome and evening meal in the church hall. On Friday 4th October they visited our Town Hall where they met the Mayor and were given a talk on Darlington and the history of the town.

They then went to Durham where it had been arranged for them to sing in the Cathedral – a memorable experience – before touring the city.
Evening meal was in the Oven restaurant, and this was followed by a great night of entertainment in the church hall provided by local folk group “Fourum”.

Next day they visited the Head of Steam railway museum, had free time and rehearsal time, before the evening concert in St. Cuthbert’s Church where the performances given by both choirs were excellent. This was then followed by a social evening in the church hall.

Sunday morning they Sung Eucharist before returning home via Newcastle airport. Following the visit the church received letters from the leader of the choir, Gijs Burger, describing their visit as “beautiful and unforgettable, with thanks for the warm welcome in the parish”.
